African Football Governing Body (CAF) has postponed the upcoming 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations qualifiers billed for June 2021.
The qualifiers was initially scheduled to hold between 7 to 15, June 2021, but it has now been pushed forward to October.
The first round matches of the qualifiers will now hold from October 18 to 26, 2021, while the second round will take place from February 14 to 23 2022.
CAF cited coronavirus travel restrictions as the reason to postpone the matches.
“CAF’s Organizing Committee of Women Football decided to postpone the qualifiers of the women Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022 In line with the postponement of the Men World Cup Qualifiers,” reads a statement from CAF.
“The reasons for the postponements were based on the actual conditions of certain stadiums in Africa and the restrictions related to COVID19.
Following the postponement, Nigeria’s will now be turn their attention to the July invitational tournament in USA.
