In a first-time ever fan voting ssytem, CAF has elected to allow football fans decide the team of the year.
Troost-Ekong was a rock in the Nigeria Defence during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and also helped the Eagles pick the ticket in a group that have Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia.
Earlier, three goalkeepers were listed in the 3-4-3 formation.
Dennis Onyango (Uganda), Ayman Mathlouthy (Tunisia) and Ayman Majid (Morocco) made the category for goalies.
Ahmed Fathy (Egypt), Mohamed Meftah (Algeria) were pitched in the first CB poll.
Ali Maaloul (Tunisia) and Fackson Kapumbu (Zambia) were pitched in the second poll.
Apparently, Leon Balogun got snubbed but shockingly after the 29-year-old was listed in the heart of a 4-man defence of the World Cup qualifiers Best XI for Africa.
