The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the schedule for the 2024 CAF Awards, set to honour Africa’s top football performers on Monday, December 16, in Marrakech, Morocco.
The prestigious event will take place at the Palais des Congrès de Marrakech, beginning at 19:00 local time (18:00 GMT, 20:00 Cairo time, and 21:00 East African time).
The CAF Awards celebrates excellence in African football, with the spotlight on the coveted African Player of the Year awards for both men and women, alongside accolades for standout performances in club and national competitions.
Among the nominees are Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and Stanley Nwabali who made the final shortlist.
Lookman, recognized for his outstanding season with Nigeria and Atalanta, is a contender for Player of the Year.
He will compete against Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa).
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Stanley Nwabali is up against André Onana (Cameroon), Yahia Fofana (Ivory Coast), Ronwen Williams (South Africa), and Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt).
Beyond individual accolades, Nigeria is also in contention for the National Team of the Year, competing with African champions Ivory Coast, DR Congo, South Africa, and Sudan.
With its grandeur and celebration of African excellence, the CAF Awards promises to be a memorable night that highlights the continent’s incredible football achievements in 2024.
