Broos Confident Bafana Bafana Will Secure World Cup Ticket

The rivalry between South Africa and Nigeria is set to be rekindled as both teams meet on June 7th in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Speaking ahead of the game, South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has confidently stated that they will defeat Nigeria’s Super Eagles to secure the World Cup ticket.

Broos and his team will arrive Uyo for the first leg of their WC qualifiers, where the hosts are eager to secure a ticket after failing to qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar.

The coach announced the 23-man squad for the qualifier on Thursday during a press conference, expressing the team’s readiness to secure the sole ticket.

“We’ve made much progress in the last two years, and the results are there; now we want more. When you’re a sportsman, you want more. So we want to go to the World Cup,” Broos said.

“It will not be easy, especially against Nigeria. But I think we have confidence and believe in ourselves because of our performances in AFCON. We will see next year where we stand, but the mission is to go to the World Cup,” he added.

Nigeria defeated South Africa on penalties in the semi-final of AFCON 2023, and Bafana Bafana will be seeking revenge in their pursuit of a World Cup ticket.
