Brian Idowu’s teammate at Lokomotiv Moscow Alexey Lomakin has died after a night out with a friend in Russia.

The Russian prospect failed to contact his mother after staying at his club overnight following medical examinations.

The 18-year-old then went out with a friend, with his phone and backpack left in a taxi, according to Russian publication dni24.

Lomakin, an attacking midfielder, played three times in the Russian Youth Premier Liga this season.

An investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances of Lomakin’s death, with the club releasing a statement to confirm the tragic news.

It read: “FC Lokomotiv is saddened to report that Loko U21 player Alexey Lomakin has died in Moscow.
