The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of the Men's senior National Team, the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of the Men’s senior National Team, the Super Eagles.

The decision was confirmed following an agreement between the NFF and Labbadia.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, stated on Tuesday: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.”

 

 

The 58 year-old German replaces Finidi George who quit his role after four games in charge.

Labbadia, who earned two caps for the German national team during his playing career, represented several clubs, including Darmstadt 98, Hamburger SV, FC Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich, FC Cologne, Werder Bremen, Arminia Bielefeld, and Karlsruher SC.

As a coach, Labbadia has led clubs including Hertha Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, and Bayer Leverkusen. He holds a UEFA Pro License.

Labbadia has been tasked to qualify the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, starting with qualifying matches against Benin Republic on September 7th in Uyo and Rwanda on September 10th in Kigali.
