Unai Emery has been sacked by Arsenal following the club’s woeful start to the season.
The Gunners confirmed the Spaniard’s dismissal on Friday, less than 24 hours after the 2-1 Europa League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Freddie Ljungberg will take interim charge of the club while the Gunners search for a long-term successor.
The 48-year-old was in charge in North London for 18 months but has finally been made to pay for the club’s terrible form in recent months, resulting in the club’s worst run since 1992.
Arsenal will now begin the search for a new manager, with Nuno Espirito Santo, Mikel Arteta and Massimiliano Allegri three names that have been heavily linked with the position.
