Victor Boniface said he’s surprised with his blistering start in the Bundesliga.
Boniface hit the ground running in the Bundesliga, netting four times and provided two assists in five matches for Bayer Leverkusen.
The Nigerian forward was voted as Bundesliga’s rookie of the month and Player of the month for August.
“I couldn’t have imagined it better,” said Boniface in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad.
“I have to thank my teammates and everyone who supported me. I am a bit surprised that I adapted so quickly, but on the other hand I have always believed in myself.”
Boniface signed for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €18m during the last transfer window.
The 22-year-old on Saturday paid his former side a visit. He was one of the guests at the Dudenpark during Union Saint-Gilloise’s league game against KRC Genk.
Union SG lost 2-0, but Boniface says he is happy to return to Union.
“It’s nice to be back here. I wanted to support Union in this top match on my day off.
