Brazilian fighter, Alex Pereira retained his UFC light heavyweight title by defeating Khalil Rountree by TKO in round 4 at UFC 307, in Salt Lake City.
Pereira recovered from a knockdown in the second round after being caught by a counter right hand from Rountree, before ultimately securing the victory.
With this win, the 37 year-old has now defeated three top contenders—Khalil Rountree, Jamahal Hill, and Jiri Prochazka—in the same calendar year.
The victory for Pereira, who has been accused of using juju, also set a new UFC record for the shortest period between three consecutive title defenses.
Previously held by UFC legend Ronda Rousey, the record now belongs to Pereira, who defended his title three times within just 175 days, with successful defenses in April, June, and at UFC 307.
