“Bittersweet Moment” – Iwobi Reacts to Frustrating Draw at Goodison Park

Nigeria and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi has expressed his team’s frustration following their 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, where the hosts snatched an equalizer at the death.

Facing his former club at Goodison Park, Iwobi appeared to deliver a decisive moment in the 61st minute with a stunning strike that gave Fulham the lead.

His return to the stadium, where he spent four seasons before leaving for Fulham in September 2023, carried an air of redemption.

However, with Fulham on the verge of securing all three points, a stoppage-time goal from Everton denied them the victory, leaving the visitors disappointed.

After the match, Iwobi admitted the result felt like a missed opportunity.

“It’s always nice to get a goal, but the main thing, whether I score or not, is to get the three points,” Iwobi said.

“It’s a bit of a bittersweet moment, but we have to learn from our mistakes. It happened before against West Ham. We’re kind of disappointed, but we’ll look at the positives to go into the Brentford game.

“It’s almost like a loss; everyone’s not too happy, but the manager says we should be proud of the performance and try not to stay down, so we’ll look at the positives and go again.”

Iwobi has registered two goals and one assist so far this season, continuing to be a key player for Fulham.

Up next for the Cottagers is a clash with Brentford, where they will aim to bounce back and regain momentum.
