Nigerian midfielder, Akinkunmi Amoo has finally got some action for his Cypriot First Division club, Omonia Nicosia.
Having inked his deal with the club back in September, Amoo’s debut was delayed until December due to fitness concerns.
Manager, Sofronios Avgousti entrusted the Nigerian with his debut during Tuesday’s clash against AEL Limassol, a match that concluded with Omonia Nicosia securing a 3-1 victory.
The midfielder made his mark by coming off the bench in the second half, substituting for Roman Bezus.
It marked Amoo’s return to club-level action after a hiatus since August 19, 2022, when he featured for 22 minutes in a Danish Superliga match between FC Copenhagen and Lyngby BK.
Expressing his gratitude for the memorable outing, the former Golden Eaglets star took to social media after the game, stating:
“My first game for @OMONOIAfootball, and I’m excited to return from injury.
I want to thank the management, coaches, teammates, and backroom for their support since I joined the club and during my recovery period. Home win, and we closed the gap.”
