It’s a Rumor! No foreign Goalkeeper Trainer for Eagles – Bewarang

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Bitrus Bewarang has dismissed reports an interim foreign goalkeeper trainer will be appointed for the Super Eagles.

News filtered in on Wednesday about the possibility of the Super Eagles getting a foreign trainer, but Bewarang described the report as a “rumour”.

The Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr had come under fire for his team’s weakness in the goalkeeping department in the absence of first choice, Carl Ikeme.

As such, the German Coach and his technical bench had also come under scrutiny for his choice of goalkeepers especially after the recent defeat to South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Sports Analyst Olawale Quadry tweeted,”Breaking News Super Eagles to get foreign goalkeeper trainer on interim arrangements that will last for three month”. He also quoted a source for the scoop.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have not made an official statement on the reports.

But, there is no reason to believe the position of current goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has being brought up for scrutiny by the FA.
