Belgium is facing a possible elimination from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, following their poor performance in Group F.
The Belgian managed to beat debutants Canada 1-0 in their opening game, but we’re brought down to earth by Morocco in the second game.
The Atlast Lions outclassed the Belgians who ranked number two on FIFA World rankings, winning 2-0 at the Al Thumama Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking on the Belgium’s bizzare World Cup campaign, Okocha said, the Roberto Martinez’ side is badly affected by Romelu Lukaku’s fitness problem.
Martinez started both games with Batshuayi, but was forces to introduce half fit Lukaku against Morocco, but the Inter Milan striker failed to make needed impact.
“The downside of his (Batshuayi’s) game is he has to be more clinical. He always gets himself in the right positions but his finishing is always a bit questionable,” Okocha said on SuperSport.
“He’s a player that needs a lot of chances to convert and that’s where Lukaku is being missed.
“Hopefully he’ll grow as the tournament goes on knowing that he’s the main man now because of the injury that Lukaku has.
“Hopefully he will know that he needs to convert more of his chances.” He said.
Following the defeat, Belgium has just three points, and a defeat against Croatia would see them exit the tournament at Group stage.
