Bassey injured in Ajax victory over Heerenveen

Calvin Bassey continued his impressive run of games for Ajax Amsterdam, as he was involved in their Dutch Eredivisie clash with Heerenveen.

The Nigerian played from start and helped his side secure a perfect 5-0 victory over their visitors on Saturday.

He joined Jurriën Timber, Devyne Rensch and Daley Blind in the defense, and together they kept their fifth straight clean sheet in all competitions.

Bassey however left the pitch in the 84th minute after picking up a knock, but Ajax would also go on to finish the game with 10 men as they had exhausted their substitutions.

He did have a significant impact in the game completing 98% of his passes, had 98 touches of the ball, and completed 100% of his long passes.

Calvin Bassey also made five (5) recoveries, won two headed duels, one interception and for the second successive game he was on pitch when Ajax scored five goals without letting in one.

Davy Klaassen scored the first in the 4th minute, before Kenneth Taylor made it 2-0 twelve minutes later – both from Dusan Tadic’s assists.

Ghanaian forward Mohamed Kudus grabbed a brace in the 48th and 59th minute respectively.

Brian Brobbey completed the rout with the fifth of the game in the 79th minute, and converting a pass from Tadic.
