Baroni Commits to Developing Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

Lazio head coach, Marco Baroni has expressed his commitment to helping Fisayo Dele-Bashiru improve his game following the midfielder’s recent move to the club.

Dele-Bashiru, who joined Lazio from Turkish side Hatayaspor during the summer transfer window, made his Serie A debut in the team’s 3-1 victory over Venezia at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Speaking to Lazionews24, Baroni acknowledged the 22-year-old’s potential but stressed the need for the player to adapt to the demands of Italian football.

“Dele-Bashiru has great potential. He is a young player who needs to understand our style of football, and to do that, he must train and play regularly,” Baroni said.

“We will give him the opportunity to do so. We also have other good midfielders who are improving, and the attitude is crucial.”

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Baroni was candid about Dele-Bashiru’s performance, noting areas where the Nigerian needs to improve.

“He needs to improve his posture. He is often closed down by the opposition, which limits his ability to drive forward,” Baroni explained.

“But when he opens his shoulders, he can be devastating. He needs to become a ball-winner, but that’s not an easy task. It’s a complete overhaul, but he made an extraordinary contribution.”

Dele-Bashiru joined Lazio on loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season, and Baroni’s comments suggest the club sees significant potential in the young midfielder’s development.
