Leon Balogun scored for Rangers in their 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in Europa League round of 16 clash at the Ibrox .
The defender got the all important third goal for the Giovanni Van Bronkhorst men on Thursday.
The big centre-half rose highest in the box and powered a fantastic header into the net with 51 minute on the clock.
Speaking at the post match conference, Balogun said ,he was thrilled to score the goals that put Rangers’ in strong position ahead of the second leg .
Balogun, 33, also praised the team’s organization at the back .
“It’s amazing. To score in front of our own fans in this fantastic stadium is for me personally historical. I think it was an important goal as well so I’m really happy about that.
“Red Star were never really out of the game. I think we were struggling at times in the first half but after going 2-0 up at half-time we said that we had to reset and that the game is far from done.
“We’ve been in positions like that before so it was about trying to get another goal and to get the best possible result for next week. I’m happy we got that done.
“It sets us up for next week but we need to park that for a little bit because there is a very important cup fixture at the weekend coming up and we want to make sure we get past that as well.”
