Glasgow Rangers have released their squad for the upcoming Europa League, and there were some notable names missing, including Leon Balogun.
Defender Balogun was conspicuously absent from the squad, while new striker Cyriel Dessers was included.
Rangers announced their 22-man squad on their website, with Head Coach Michael Beale making the final decisions.
Balogun, who joined the team last summer from Queens Park Rangers, was not selected in Beale’s squad for the early stages of the competition.
The chosen defenders are James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Borna Barisic, Dujon Sterling, and Ben Davies.
However, Balogun, at 35 years old, does not meet the eligibility criteria for, as the list is limited to players born on or after January 1, 2002.
Since the start of the campaign, Balogun has only made two appearances for the team. Rangers’ failure to beat PSV Eindhoven in the playoff round of the UEFA Champions League means that they will now compete in the Europa League.
Rangers have been drawn in Group C alongside Real Betis, Sparta Prague, and Aris Limassol.
Their first game will be against Real Betis at Ibrox on September 21.
