Ayoze Perez’s acquisition casts doubt over Iheanacho’s Leicester City Future

Leicester City’s acquisition of Spanish striker Ayoze Perez ahead of the new season has cast doubt on Kelechi Iheanacho’s future at the EPL outfit.

Newcastle agreed on a £30m fee with the Foxes for the 25-year-old and he will join the Leicester City attack line that currently boasts of Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho.

However, the Nigerian who has endured a difficult time in his two seasons at the King Power Stadium could see a bad situation turn to worse, with the new inclusion.

Last season Iheanacho played only 926 minutes despite getting 30 appearances, but his goals return – over two seasons – has been miserable.

The striker has managed just four league goals in 51 appearances over two seasons, while new boy Ayoze netted a season-high 12 league goals in 37 appearances last term.

Acquiring Ayoze is expected to bring some flair and pace to the Foxes’ attack.

He could be favored by Brendan Rogers as second choice striker behind Vardy and could see Iheanacho drop behind him in the pecking order.
