Taiwo Awoniyi believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to win the next African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
The three time African Champions sealed qualification for the tournament with a dramatic 2-3 win over Sierra Leone in Monrovia in June.
“I think everyone in the squad is happy; the first stage is to qualify for the AFCON which we did already, then the next stage now is just to try everything possible to win the AFCON, which is the target for the country,” Awoniyi told Channels Television.
Awoniyi made his debut in the tournament in 2022 as the Eagles were knocked out in round of 16.
“The last one was an experience, I was there and we are happy we are there again and of course, we want to go there and we want to win the trophy for sure.”
Nigeria last won the tournament during 2013 edition hosted by South Africa.
