Premier League side West Ham are reportedly considering a move for Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi as new manager Graham Potter looks to reinforce his attacking options.

Awoniyi, 27, has struggled for consistent game time at Nottingham Forest following a long-term injury.

His starting role has been taken by Chris Wood this season, leaving him limited opportunities to shine. Despite returning to fitness, the forward has only managed two starts for Forest, including one in the FA Cup win against Luton, and has scored just one goal this campaign.

West Ham’s need for a reliable striker has grown urgent after Niclas Füllkrug suffered an injury during their 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa on Friday.

Füllkrug, who joined the club in the summer from Borussia Dortmund, has yet to make a significant impact. Adding to their woes, Michail Antonio remains sidelined after undergoing surgery for a broken leg sustained in a car accident in December.

Danny Ings, nearing the latter stages of his career, has also left West Ham short of attacking depth, prompting Potter to prioritize signing a proven goal scorer to improve the team’s fortunes.

Awoniyi, known for his strength, physicality, and presence in the final third, is seen as a potential solution to West Ham’s attacking struggles.
