Forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s chances ahead of the first of two matches against Libya in this window of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria will first host the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before traveling to Benghazi for the return leg.
The Super Eagles began their qualifying campaign with a win against Benin Republic and a draw against Rwanda.
Securing six points against Libya, starting with Friday’s clash in Uyo, will bring the team closer to securing a spot at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
“It’s a great privilege, and I believe every player here is ready for the task. We are focused on winning for the fans,” Awoniyi said.
“We’ve known each other for years, and seeing everyone again is exciting. For sure, we are ready for the game.”
Nigeria’s Super Eagles reached the final of the last AFCON edition in Côte d’Ivoire.
