Taiwo Awoniyi was on parade for Union Berlin as they wrap up their 2020-2021 Bundesliga campaign with a win over Leipzig on Saturday.
Awoniyi who recently returned from injury wasn’t included in the starting lineup but was introduced six minutes into the second half.
The 24-year-old replaced Petar Musa and he helped the Urs Fischer’s tutored to a 2-1 win.
Justin Kluivert put RB Leipzig in front on the 55th minutes, but Union Berlin equalized six minutes later through Marvin Fried rich.
Union Berlin snatched the three points with the last kick of the game, thanks to a superb finish from Max Kruse.
At the end of the game, Taiwo Awoniyi was presented with an award for his excellent service this season.
The on-loan Liverpool forward ended the campaign with five goals and four assists in 22 appearances for Union Berlin.
Union Berlin finished 7th in the German Bundesliga table and it was enough to qualify them for UEFA Europa Conference League next season.
Meanwhile, Awoniyi’s next destination is still unknown, but reports suggested he might be heading to the premier league after been granted a work permit.
