Chidozie Awaziem marked his return to the Alanyaspor’s strating eleven with a win on Monday.
The Nigerian international defender featured from the start for Alanyaspor in their 2-1 away win against Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig .
The former FC Porto defender last started a game for the club since December 18, 2021.
Coach Sanchez Matteos decided to field Awaziem last night after Emre Akbaba failed to recover from the injury he sustained against Gaziantep last Thursday.
Awaziem has now played 12 league games and two Turkish Cup matches for Alanyaspor this season — scoring once in all competition.
His return to first team action with his Club is a massive boost for his national team career.
He failed to make any appearance at 2021 African Cup Nations in Cameroon and was also placed on standby list for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.
With William Troost Ekong out of the clash with Ghana, Awaziem is now a strong candidate to replace him.
