Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem is reportedly attracting interest from Major League Soccer (MLS) club FC Cincinnati.

Multiple sources confirm that FC Cincinnati has initiated discussions with Awaziem’s Portuguese club, Boavista, aiming to secure his services this summer.

Awaziem, a versatile defender, has been with Boavista since his initial loan move from FC Porto in the 2020/21 season, which was later made permanent.

Despite being linked with a move to Ligue 1 club Nantes last summer, the move did not materialize.

The 27-year-old has had loan spells at Turkish club Alanyaspor and Croatian outfit Hajduk Split. Last season, he made 27 league appearances for Boavista.

FC Cincinnati’s pursuit of Awaziem highlights their intent to bolster their defensive options as they prepare for the upcoming MLS season.
