CD Leganés new Manager Luis Cembranos got off to a winning start in La Liga as his wards, including Chidozie Awaziem, scrapped to a narrow 1-0 over Mallorca.
Awaziem came off the bench to shore up the defence for the home side as they defended a first half goal by Martin Braithwaite (31′).
He was introduced in the 59th minute for his sixth league appearance for Los Pepineros since joining on loan from FC Porto in the Summer.
Cembranos, who was in charge of the team’s B team, was promoted as caretaker Coach after the Club sacked Mauricio Pellegrino last week.
The latter had struggled early season, failing to win any of the first nine matches played.
Prior his sacking, Leganés only managed to pick two points with Pellegrino as Manager this season.
Saturday’s result for Lega sees them climb out of the bottom spot in the League, but still inside the relegation zone.
