Auwalu Ali and Effiong Ndifreke leads the chase for NPFL golden boot

Auwalu Ali continued his good run of form for Nigeria professional football league side Kano Pillars on Sunday, when he scored a brace against Jigawa Golden Stars.

The Kano Pillars attacker scored twice at the Sanni Abacha’s Stadium in Kano to lead the Sai Masu Gida to a commendable win over Jigawa Golden Stars who is finding life difficult in the elite division.

Auwalu Ali who also scored for Pillars in their 2-2 draw with Lobi Stars last week at the Aper Aku stadium, took his tally for the season to eleven goals.

The young forward is how sitting on top of the 2019/2020 Nigeria professional football league alongside Akwa United’s Effiong Ndifreke who was on target on Sunday.

Ndifreke also took his tally from ten to eleven after hitting the back of the net against Katsina United.

Auwalu Ali and Ndifreke are closely followed by Rangers international’s Israel Abia who has ten for the season.

Abia who fired blank in the Flying Antelopes’ slim win over in form River United on Sunday, missed the chance to become the first player to hit eleven goals for the season when he missed his team’s decisive penalty against MFM FC last week.
