In 1965, an evergreen musical was born, The Sound of Music. It explored the life of Maria, a free-spirited postulant. The opening scene sees the Mother Abbess lament to other nuns about Maria’s behavior in music; “How do you solve a problem like Maria? How do you hold a cloud and pin it down? She’s late for everything, except for every meal…” Wordings aside, it was beautiful music, each note resonating stronger than the last.
