Asisat Oshoala is in the final three of nominees for this year’s CAF Women’s Player of the Year accolade.
The Confederation of African Football unveiled the final shortlist for the prestigious award on Thursday, with Oshoala, a standout player for Barcelona Femeni, being one of the three contenders.
The 28-year-old former Arsenal and Liverpool forward will slug it out with South Africa’s Bayana Bayana legend Thembi Klagtlana and Barbara Banda from Zambia.
Klagtlana, beat Oshoala to win her first award in 2018, while Barbara Banda is seeking her first success.
Oshoala is the favorite for this year’s award, thanks to her overwhelming success with club and country.
The five time winner played a pivotal role in Barcelona Femeni’s triumph in the UEFA Women’s Champions League during the last season and guided Nigeria’s Super Falcons to the last 16 of FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The anticipation builds as football enthusiasts eagerly await the unveiling of the winner at the highly anticipated CAF Awards Gala, scheduled to take place on Monday, December 11, 2023. The grand event will unfold at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, in Marrakech, Morocco.
