Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre has renewed her contract with Saudi Arabian Women’s Premier League club Al-Ittihad for another two years.
Plumptre joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 from Leicester City in the WSL shortly after the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Since her arrival, she has been a key player, contributing with her goal-scoring ability as a defender.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Domingos Oliveira, confirmed the extension, stating that it aligns with Al-Ittihad’s strategy to retain distinguished players who are committed to development and long-term success.
Her hot-form and performances earned her the captain’s armband, further solidifying her leadership role within the team.

The versatile defender switched her international allegiance from England to Nigeria and made her major tournament debut at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
She was also part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where Nigeria reached the Round of 16.
However, she missed the 2024 Paris Olympics due to injury.
With the 2024 WAFCON set to be held again in Morocco, Plumptre is expected to be a key part of the Super Falcons squad as they aim for a record-extending 10th title.
