Pedro has been forced out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour after a heavy collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina.

Pedro suffered concussion and facial injuries in the clash during the first half of Chelsea’s 3-0 win in China.

The Spain international was detained in a Beijing hospital for tests and observation as the rest of the squad flew to Singapore and will now return to London where his condition will be reviewed.

Posting an image of himself in a hospital bed on Saturday night, Pedro wrote: ‘What a shock! But fortunately everything is ok. Thank you all for your messages.’

The 29-year-old could be seen cheerfully smiling and appeared to be in high spirits, but he will not return to the tour and will miss friendlies against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
