Arokodare Reacts to Assault in Clash with Union SG

KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare expressed shock after an incident during their match against Union Saint-Gilloise, where Christian Burgess forcefully slammed the ball onto his face.

Genk won the game 1-0, with Arokodare scoring the crucial goal, however, the game was overshadowed by a moment of madness from Union’s Burgess.

In a display of frustration, the defender deliberately threw the ball at the Nigerian during a throw-in, leading to his subsequent expulsion from the game.

“I was surprised,” the Nigerian striker began. “I didn’t really feel it. Afterwards, some players signaled that I had to lie on the ground. That is of course the smart thing to do.”

“It was hard, but I was shocked before. I thought: ‘What are you doing now?’. Luckily the referee saw it. He got what he deserved,” he continues.

“I don’t know why he did it. I think he was a bit frustrated or something…” Tolu concluded.

With this victory, KRC Genk suddenly climbs to third place on the table with 27 points.
