Tolu Arokodare delivered a standout performance on Saturday, scoring and assisting in KRC Genk’s 2-1 victory over Westerlo at Her Kuipje.

The Nigerian forward played a key role in Genk’s opener in the 18th minute, threading a precise pass to Zakaria El-Ouahdi, who found the back of the net from the centre of the box.

Arokodare doubled the visitors’ lead just 12 minutes later, capping off a lightning-fast counterattack orchestrated by Patrik Hrosovsky.

His sublime left-footed strike into the top corner left the Westerlo goalkeeper with no chance.

This season, Arokodare has proven to be one of the Pro League’s brightest attacking talents. In 22 league appearances, he has tallied 14 goals and five assists, showing his consistency and quality in front of goal.

However, his night ended early in the 62nd minute when he was substituted for Hyun-Gyu Oh after picking up a minor knock. Despite his premature exit, he maintained an impressive passing accuracy of 88%, completed 14 of 16 passes, and won two of his four ground duels.

Westerlo pulled one back late in the game through Isa Sakamoto, who scored in the 87th minute, but it wasn’t enough to deny Genk the win.

Arokodare’s prolific form keeps him atop the Pro League scoring chart with 14 goals, just two ahead of his closest competitor. With the Golden Boot firmly in his sights, the lanky striker continues to spearhead Genk’s title charge.

The victory saw Genk reclaim the top spot in the Belgian Pro League standings, amassing 48 points as they tighten their grip on the title race.
