Tolu Arokodare believes KRC Genk deserves to win the Belgian Jupiler title than any other other side in the division.
Genk narrowly lost the title to Royale Antwerp in a cruel fashion after playing 2-2 draw in the deciding game at home on Sunday.
Arokodare gave Genk the lead during the game, before Gyrano Kerk levelled matters for Antwerp in the second half.
Bryan Heynen thought he had scored the winner with 15 minutes left to play, only for Toby Alderwereid to score a 94th minute leveller which handed Royale Antwerp the title for the first time since 1957.
“I’ve played it over and over again in my head, we were so close, we could feel it, it felt good, But somehow it wasn’t meant to be.” Arokodare stated in his open letter to the Genk fans.
“Thank you for supporting us through it all, you stood, you cheered. Thank you.”
Arokodare joined Genk during winter transfer as a replacement for Paul Onuachu who left for Southampton.
Arokodare featured in just eleven games, scored two goals and assisting one.
