Joe Aribo netted his first Premier League goal of the season for Southampton, but it wasn’t enough to secure a point as the Saints suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Leicester City at St Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton took the lead early, with Cameron Archer opening the scoring after just eight minutes.
Aribo doubled their advantage 20 minutes later, finishing off a Kyle Walker-Peters assist to give the Saints a 2-0 cushion.
Aribo played the full 90 minutes, while his compatriot, Paul Onuachu, replaced Archer in the 68th minute.
Wilfred Ndidi also saw action for the visitors.
However, Southampton couldn’t hold their lead, as Leicester mounted a dramatic second-half comeback.
Facundo Buonanotte pulled one back for the Foxes, and Jamie Vardy equalized shortly after.
The decisive blow came in stoppage time, with Jordan Ayew scoring in the 97th minute to hand Leicester a stunning victory.
Despite Aribo’s contribution, the Saints were left to rue their missed chances and a collapse after halftime.
