Aribo, Balogun miss out on prestigious UCL Group stage

It was a disappointing night of football for duo of Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo as their club crashed out of the UEFA Champions League.

The Super Eagles were on parade for Glasgow Rangers, but they could do little to stop the Scottish giants from going down at home to Malmo FF in the 3rd round second leg of the encounter on Tuesday.

The Gers lost the first meeting 2-1 in Sweden and were full of hope going into the second at Ibrox on Tuesday.

However, it was the Swedish Allsvenskan side that came out on top once again, beating them 2-1 in front of the fans to advance to the next phase 4-2 on aggregate.

Rangers started on the front foot, and they took the lead in the 18th minute when Ryan Kent set up Alfredo Morelos for the opening goal.

It went from bad to worse for Malmo FF as Connor Golds on received his second yellow card before half time.

Despite with a man less, Malmo found their way back into the game in the 52nd minutes Antonio-Mirko Colaknetted an equaliser.

The visitors went in front five  minutes later, again it was Antonio-Mirko Colak who silenced the home fans with his second of the game.

Rangers searched in vain for the equalizer and they will now drop into the Europa League play-offs where they will play Kairat Almaty or Alashkert.
