Jorge Sampaoli is doing everything possible to keep his captain, Lionel Messi happy and the hopes of Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World Cup bright.
The Albiceleste Head Coach has in his preparations for the World Cup, a 10 day training camp at Barcelona’s training ground.
There will be a goodbye game at Estadio La Bombonera, home to Boca Juniors, before the camp at Ciudad Deportiva del Barcelona which will also include three friendly games.
Sampaoli’s idea is to unite the footballers at the end of March to play against as yet unconfirmed opposition, though it is likely to be Belgium, Morocco or Saudi Arabia.
Once the European league seasons have come to an end, there will be a farewell game in Argentina at Boca’s stadium on May 26th or 27th.
Argentina’s tour of Europe will begin in Barcelona, with a mini training camp at the club’s training pitches, with a potential friendly to be played against a side not competing in the World Cup.
Messi and company will then travel to Russia and their base at the Bronnitsy Training Centre a week in advance of the start of the tournament.
