Lobi Stars Vice Chairman Mike Idoko says the Club’s home ground, Aper Aku stadium, will be ready ahead of the scheduled visit of the CAF inspection team next month.
The club started renovation on the stadium weeks back in order to meet CAF standard in readiness for next season’s CAF Champions and it is gathered that facilities like the floodlights, scoreboard, VIP seats and dressing room are below required levels.
However, when asked about the of the stadium to host continental matches, Idoko said he’s optimistic the work will be completed before the arrival of the CAF, as they are assured of funds from the state Government.
.
“From the inspection, we have done so far, we have to go back and fix those things. This is not the first CAF competition played in the state. In 2000, Lobi played continental matches here. But we have to look at the floodlights, scoreboard, seats and the dressing rooms.
“I am confident that all these facilities will be put in place before the inspection team arrives next month. The Governor has assured us of adequate funding”, Idoko stated.
Lobi Stars are Nigeria’s sole representative in the CAF Champions League next season and all eyes will be on them to do well so that the country can reclaim her two full slots in the CAF elites football competition.
