Warren further clarified that a rematch with Joshua is “out of the picture” for now, as AJ cannot secure another mandatory position in time.

Anthony Joshua-Daniel Dubois Rematch “Out of the Picture” for 2024, Says Frank Warren

A potential rematch between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois is no longer in the cards for the immediate future, according to Frank Warren.

The two heavyweights faced off at Wembley Stadium in September, with Dubois securing a stunning fifth-round knockout to retain his IBF world title.

While a rematch had initially been floated as a possibility following the fight, talks have stalled in recent weeks, and it appears the bout won’t be revisited any time soon.

“First of all, the fight Daniel had against AJ was his mandatory so he is allowed a period of time, which means he can fight in February and he’s allowed up until April or May [to make a voluntary defence],” Warren explained in an appearance on talkSPORT this week.

“And then whoever the mandatory is, that is who it will be [for the fight after].”

This means that Dubois, who is expected to return to the ring in February 2024, will likely face a different opponent next year.

Warren further clarified that a rematch with Joshua is “out of the picture” for now, as AJ cannot secure another mandatory position in time.

“It won’t be AJ because he can’t get himself into a mandatory position because they have called for the next two guys to fight each other (Kabayel and Bakole),” Warren added. “So he’s out of the picture and he will be out of the picture for a while.”

Dubois’ next challenge is expected to come in the form of the winner of an eliminator bout between Martin Bakole and Agit Kabayel, slated for the second half of 2025.
