Former Nigerian international Victor Anichebe has voiced sharp criticism against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), arguing for its disbandment amidst the ongoing turmoil surrounding the Super Eagles.
Nigeria has struggled in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, managing only three draws and suffering one defeat.
The recent draw against South Africa and a loss to the Benin Republic culminated in Finidi George’s abrupt resignation.
Finidi’s departure came on the heels of the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the squad, a move that has sparked controversy.
Anichebe condemned the Federation’s management of Nigerian football, questioning the processes behind their coaching appointments, and asserting that the NFF is not operating effectively.
“The whole federation is a complete and utter mess, completely clueless, lacking foresight, no clue about football.
“What was their hiring process? Does anyone even know? Nepotism at its finest.
“How can results be achieved with a leaderless bunch at the helm? The whole organization needs to be disbanded and started again,” He said.
In addition to his critique of the Federation, Anichebe also admonished Victor Osimhen for publicly criticizing former head coach Finidi George.
Anichebe believes the outburst was ill-advised, detrimental and called for more respectful and constructive dialogue within the team.
