Rivers United secured a hard-fought win over Remo Stars in the rescheduled NPFL game in Port Harcourt, on Thursday.

A goal in each half from Alex Oyowah and Andy Okpe was enough to earn Rivers United their first three points of the new campaign.

Oyowah scored the opener from the penalty spot in the 13th minute after a defender handled the ball inside the box. It was Rivers United’s first league goal of campaign.

Former Remo Stars striker, Okpe killed any hope of a comeback when he scored the second with one minute left in the regulation time.

Okpe who left Remo Stars for the Pride of Rivers during last NPFL transfer window scored a stunner from 25yards to seal victory for the home side.

Rivers United will host Kwara United in their next league game while Remo Stars will travel to Bayelsa United for their third league game.

Both games are slated for Sunday.
