Enyimba centre-back, Ifeanyi Anaemena has expressed his excitement to be part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 qualifying matches against Benin and Lesotho, saying he hopes to see more local players in the national team in future.
Anaemena has come in to replace Locomotiv Moscow of Russia left-back, Bryan Idowu who withdrew from the squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Benin and Lesotho due to passport issues.
Anaemena who was a key member of the Enyimba team that won the Nigeria Professional Football League last season, is thrilled to be part of the national team and expects to see more NPFL players in the Super Eagles.
I’m excited to be here, it’s a great privilege to be invited. I want to appreciate the coach for the opportunity and I hope more NPFL players will get this opportunity,”
“I hope this Super Eagles invitation will increase the stakes of NPFL players.”
Anaemena was part of the CHAN Eagles that defeated Togo 2-0 at the Agege stadium during the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifiers in October.
