Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike has commended Gernot Rohr for the winning mentality Super Eagles displayed in their opening two 2021 AFCON qualifying matches.
Gernot Rohr’s men came from behind to record 2-1 and 4-2 victories against Benin and Lesotho respectively as they got their qualifying campaign off to a good start.
Amunike, 48, praised the Franco-German tactician for the high level of hunger, determination and winning mentality the Super Eagles players showed against Benin and Lesotho.
“It’s a good thing to see the Super Eagles show some level of determination that was known in the past. I am impressed with the overall performance of the team even though I believe there is still room for improvement,”
“Credit should also go to Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr for good work he has done with the team. Coming from behind to defeat Lesotho shows that the players are ready to hold their own against any team in Africa.”
“I just urge the team to remain focus and maintain their winning form once they return to their various clubs in Europe.”
Nigeria have picked up six points from their first two games, currently sit first on the Group L Table and will entertain Sierra Leone for their match-day three encounter.
