Former Super Eagles player and one time African footballer of the year, Emmanuel Amunike has slammed head coach Gernot Rohr for naming Skipper Ahmed Musa in the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking with brila.net Amunike said, Musa should not be in the squad since he is currently inactive per club football.
The former Tanzanian boss, however, acknowledged Musa’s loyalty over the years in the National team and why the coach has invited him but it is professionally wrong.
“From professional and moral point of view – it is true that Ahmed Musa has not been engaged to any football club in recent times, let us be honest in a very advance and developed world, I think if you are doing things by professional point of view, Ahmed Musa is not supposed to be in that squad.
“I understand the coach might have brought him in based on his experience and to serve as motivation to the younger players in the squad,” Amunike said.
Nigeria will play Benin republic and Lesotho on the 27th and 30th March in the AFCON qualifiers to be staged in Cameroon.
