Heartland head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke says the club is undergoing a rebuilding process and expects the progress might be slow.
The Naze Millionaires secured their first win of the season, defeating Niger Tornadoes 2-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Sunday, ending a winless streak.
Michael Ogu netted both goals for Amuneke’s side.
Prior to this victory, Heartland had recorded one draw and three defeats in their first four matches.
“I’m happy to finally get a win,” Amuneke said. “What we are doing will take time. If you look at Heartland, a lot happened last season, and most of the players left at the end of it.
“The league is a marathon. When you drop points, it can be frustrating, but we remain focused on what we are trying to build.
“We have a young team now, one that will serve us well in the future. But when you’re in the middle of a process, you need to be patient.
“This win brings us relief and gives us confidence heading into our next match against El Kanemi.” The former Tanzania coach said after the match.
