Ambrose impresses for Hibernian, makes case for Super Eagles recall

Efe Ambrose made a big shout for a recall to the Super Eagles with a massive performance on Friday night for Hibernian as he helped his side earn a point in a 1-1 result away to St Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League.

Ambrose, 29, has been consistent with Hibs this season, starting 29 times out of his 30 appearances – more than Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo.

He scored his second league goal of the season, but is still one shy of his all-time season’s record (3).

The center back, who last featured for Nigeria in 2015, grabbed the opener for Hibernian inside the opening two minutes of the game.

However, his side would play 76 minutes with a man less after goalkeeper, Ofir Marciano was shown a straight red.

Inevitably, the deficit played itself out when in the 83rd minute they were pegged back and eventually would go on to settle for just a point.

Friday’s result leaves Neil Lennon’s men on 52points in fourth place, but they well within a fighting chance for a spot in the Europa League next season.
