Obiageri Amaechi emerged victorious in the women’s discus throw at the Oklahoma Throws Series on Monday.
The African Games champion achieved a remarkable 63.17 meters, setting a new personal best for the fourth time this year.
Amaechi’s stellar performance further cemented her position as the second-best on the Nigerian all-time list.
She outperformed Julia Tunks of the United States, who also set a personal best with a throw of 62.07 meters.
In another notable performance, Nigerian athlete Ashley Anumba dominated the women’s discus at the Meeting Cidade de Lisboa, winning with a season’s best of 58.88 meters.
Both athletes are poised to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
