Four Nigeria players were in action in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League third place match, as TP Mazembe secured the bronze medal with a 3–1 victory over hosts FC Masar in Egypt.
Rosemary Adesina, Glory Edet, and Yemisi Samuel played key roles on Friday as TP Mazembe secured the third medal, defeating their Compatriot, Alice Ogebe who featured for FC Masar in Egypt.
The win ensures Mazembe finish on the podium for the second consecutive year, adding bronze to the historic Champions League title they won in 2024.
Adesina Fires Mazembe Ahead as Nigerians Impress
Mazembe took control early thanks to Nigerian forward, Rosemary Adesina, who broke the deadlock in the 17th minute after latching onto a well-timed pass from Kgaelebane Mohlakoana.
But FC Masar struck back swiftly. Just three minutes later, former Edo Queens star Alice Ogebe created the equaliser, driving past two defenders before setting up Hasnath Ubamba for 1–1.
Despite the leveller, the Congolese champions responded with purpose.
Yav Kasaj’s Brace Wraps Up Bronze for Mazembe
Team captain, Marlene Yav Kasaj restored Mazembe’s lead in the 41st minute, converting from the penalty spot after a foul in the box.
She doubled her tally in first-half stoppage time, rising above the defence to head home another Mohlakoana corner, giving Mazembe a comfortable 3–1 advantage at the break.
FC Masar had a golden opportunity to close the gap in the 80th minute, but Yassmin Zezo sent her penalty wide, allowing Mazembe to see out the match with relative ease.
