Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi delivered a moment of brilliance for Fulham, scoring a spectacular goal in their 4-1 loss to Wolves at Craven Cottage
The Cottagers took the lead in the 20th minute through Iwobi’s superb strike.
A chipped ball to the far post initially eluded Raul Jimenez, who recovered possession and passed it to Kenny Tete on the right.
Tete squared the ball to Iwobi, who shifted inside and unleashed a curling left-footed shot into the far corner.
However, Fulham’s joy was short-lived as Matheus Cunha equalized for Wolves 11 minutes later, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.
The second half was a nightmare for Marco Silva’s side, with Wolves dominating proceedings.
João Gomes gave Wolves a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute before Cunha completed his brace with a third goal. Gonçalo Guedes added a fourth deep into stoppage time, sealing a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
Despite the heavy defeat, Iwobi played the full 90 minutes and continued to show his quality. He recorded three shots and was a key figure for Fulham.
This season, Iwobi has been in fine form, registering three goals and two assists in the Premier League.
Fulham manager Marco Silva recently praised the Nigerian, predicting an even better campaign for the 27-year-old.
“For me, last season was the best season from him in the Premier League, in my opinion, and I’m sure that he’s going to be better this season” Silva said on Fulham’s official website
