Carlos Alcaraz, the 20-year-old Spanish tennis player, has surprised the world by choosing to continue living in his parents' modest flat -above a kebab shop - despite earning £2.35 million from his Wimbledon victory.

Alcaraz £2.35m Richer but Still Lives with His Parents

Carlos Alcaraz, the 20-year-old Spanish tennis player, has surprised the world by choosing to continue living in his parents’ modest flat -above a kebab shop – despite earning £2.35 million from his Wimbledon victory.

Alcaraz, the newly crowned World No. 1 in tennis, defeated Novak Djokovic in a thrilling five-set match at SW19.

The Spaniard, who has an estimated wealth of £18 million, has chosen to remain grounded and resides in a £170,000 apartment with his parents when he is not traveling for tournaments.

Despite lucrative sponsorship deals with renowned brands, Alcaraz has chosen to remain above a Kebab & Pizza takeaway spot in his hometown of El Palmar, near Murcia in southern Spain.

In El Palmar, a giant mural now adorns the town to honor Alcaraz, who became the youngest men’s Wimbledon champion since Boris Becker in 1987.

His breakthrough in the tennis world came last September when he defeated Casper Ruud in the US Open final, becoming the youngest men’s winner at the New York tournament since Pete Sampras in 1990.

Alcaraz is the first player outside the “Big Four” (Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, and Murray) to claim the Wimbledon title since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
