William Troost-Ekong led Nigeria to a 2-1 win over Benin Republic in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Wednesday in Uyo.
Ekong captained the Super Eagles not for the first time in a competitive game, but on his 38 cap, and he expressed his exhilaration at the occasion.
Goals from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu came either side of Stephane Sessegnon’s opener as Nigeria fought back to pick maximum point on Matchday one.
In his tweet following the win, the Center Half showed appreciation for the win and especially in his “home soil”.
